I have a long and varied teaching history which includes classroom and one to one teaching. 

 

I have been teaching the piano since 2002 and am constantly developing my teaching techniques.  As well as just teaching the piano, I try to develop students to become more learning independent i.e. learn to solve musical problems themselves, rather than relying on me to mechanically drill them to play every note and nuance.  This, I believe, is the whole point of playing an instrument, rather than learning to play like a robot.

I understand and empathise with my students and will always go out of my way to get them through difficulties and exams.  My lessons are not like a factory line - each one is personal.  I am very encouraging and focused.

In addition I spent 10 years as a technical software trainer and 13 years teaching English as a second/foreign Language (which I still do, but not so much now).  I also spent a few years private tutoring maths and English.

​I love teaching, imparting skills and knowledge and watching my students develop and grow.  This is, I feel, my mark that I will leave upon this world.
